Summer 2020
This summer, Storyboard will be partnering with IMPACTO, a non-profit organization in Boyle Heights. We will be working virtually with 10 middle school students. Over the course of the program, students will learn photography, filmmaking, and writing skills in order to produce a multimedia story on an issue affecting their community. In addition to producing a mini-documentary, photo essay, and article, students will have the opportunity to create a short 16mm film. Storyboard is providing technology and film equipment to students, as well as providing them with mentors to work with.
Storytelling is a powerful tool that can be used for social change, especially in today's political climate. In the past, students have produced projects on issues such as immigration, mental health, and sexuality.
Storyboard is committed to uplifting the voices of women, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Each of the students participating in our program have an important story and deserve to have the education, tools, and platform to share it.
We're excited to see what our students come up with, stay tuned to see their final projects!
