Not Every Girl Has to be Just a Girl
by Jahana Dominguez
When I took these photos, I tried to capture the feelings that my sister was going through. I believe that in each picture it’s worthwhile to look deeply and realize how another person can be a mirror. Girls aren't just for boys and being lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer does not define who we are. We are all different. Everyone is an individual but the same all at once. We all love. The reasoning behind my images and area of focus being on identity and the LGBTQ community is to let people know that we shouldn't discriminate against people for who they are or who they love. We need to stop doing bad things to good people that mean no harm to anyone. We need to stop doing bad things to people just because they are different. I feel that the majority of the people who live in this world are afraid of difference; they are afraid of change when we should be embracing it.
